Herbed Chicken With Orzo Carbonara


A spin on a traditional Italian dish that is quick and easy to prepare. Herbed chicken serves as a simple and delicious counterpart to a rich carbonara sauce, all married over a bed of tender orzo.

  1. Cut the chicken breast into small chunks and season chicken with the packet of French mustard & herb blend.
  2. Empty olive oil packet into a medium sauté on medium heat. When oil is hot but not spitting or smoking place chicken in pan and cook for 1 minute, then add diced bacon until crisp and remove pan from heat.
  3. In medium pot boil 2 cups of water then add orzo, cover and cook for 7 minutes. Drain remaining liquid in fine colander and set orzo aside.
  4. In a mixing bowl crack 2 eggs and whisk with half the parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, and pinch of pepper. Place pan with bacon and chicken back on low heat and add the orzo.
  5. Pour egg mixture into pan and stir for 1 minute making sure not to cook eggs all the way.
  6. Fold in peas.
  7. Plate and finish with remaining parmesan cheese.


  • 2 chicken breasts (small strips or chunks)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 oz bacon or pancetta, diced
  • 2 oz shredded parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz sweet peas
  • 1 packet French mustard & herb blend
  • 1 packet orzo
  • 1 packet olive oil
  • 1 packet red pepper flakes
